Who makes Bloom

Affan Dindar
Independent iOS developer, Istanbul. Designs, builds, and supports Bloom alone.
What Bloom is
Bloom is an iPhone app for the weeks after a breakup. It counts your days of no contact and grows a healing tree as they add up. When the urge to text hits, it walks you through a 4-7-8 breathing exercise. When you need to say something you should not send, it gives you an unsent letter with a gentle reality check. And it has an AI companion you can talk to in the tone you need that night: supportive, tough love, or a bit of humor.
The plan inside the app runs 66 days, the average time research on habit formation found it takes for a new behavior to become automatic. Not reaching for the phone is a new behavior. Bloom is built to get you to the point where it is just what you do.
Why the free tools and guides exist
Most people who search for the no contact rule do it late at night, on the verge of sending a message. They do not need a sales page in that moment. They need a counter that works in five seconds, a place to put the words, and a straight answer about what day 3 or day 14 is going to feel like. So those live here, free, with no account.
The day counter, the unsent letter, the milestone timeline and the guides are the parts of Bloom that do not need an app. If they help, the app is there when you want the rest.
How the guides are written
Every guide on this site is written and maintained by Affan. Where a guide leans on research, it names it: Helen Fisher's 2010 brain-imaging work on romantic rejection, Phillippa Lally's 2010 study on habit formation, James Pennebaker's decades of expressive-writing research. Where it leans on patterns people describe, it says so and does not dress them up as statistics.
Affan is a developer, not a clinician. The guides are educational and come from building a product for people going through this, not from a license to treat them. If you are in crisis, the guides and the footer of every page point you to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US and to local emergency services elsewhere.
What Bloom stands on
Your data stays on your phone
Your streak, letters, and check-ins are stored on your device. There is no account to create and nothing to sell. The free tools on this site work the same way: your counter lives in your browser, and the unsent letter is never saved anywhere.
No ads, no dark patterns
Bloom is free to try and paid through Apple subscriptions. That is the whole business model. No ad networks, no data brokers, no tricks to keep you scrolling.
Honest about what it is
Bloom is a self-help tool. It is not therapy and it does not replace a therapist, a doctor, or a crisis line. The guides say so, and the app says so.
